Trunnion mounted ball valves are custom made with 2-piece or 3-piece bodies per API 6D specifications. These trunnion ball valves are available with soft seats and metal seats. Metal bases designed with ENP or other special coatings to meet abrasive or corrosive requirements.
The ball of a trunnion valve is fixed or constrained at two pivot points (upper and lower stems). When purchased, a bearing is used at the bottom stem (trunnion), allowing only pivoting movement within the body cavity. The upstream seat is a floating seat and process pressure pushes it against the ball's sealing surface. It is also possible to use a spring-loaded seat to pre-stress the seat during assembly. This design exerts constant pressure on the trunnion-mounted ball after it is installed, while the top job applies a load to the entire closure. Cast steel trunnion mounted ball valves typically have soft seats that allow for a gas-tight seal.

Advantages of Trunnion Valve
Â
Torque Operated – Trunnion ball valves can open and close efficiently at full pressure differentials.
Valve sealing - provides the ultimate in proper sealing force when used for high pressure sealing.
High Stability – This is due to its ability to withstand changes and extreme stress.
Spring Seats – Another feature of these valves is the quality of the seat springs. Spring seats are capable of operating in both high and low pressure applications.
